Elegant beechwood open -armed settee which was once caned. Now upholstered with a charming fern leaf pattern that sets off the carved frame to perfection. This French canape dates from the late 19th century and has light and graceful proportions.
Profusely carved with acanthus leaf, rosettes and floral decoration, the frame bears traces of original chalk white paint. The back is open showing the construction with later paint filling in the cane holes.
