A lovely walnut lowboy in good untouched condition with 4 bold cabriole legs and a decorative frieze. The top is crossbanded in decorative walnut veneers. The pine lined drawers are all original and the sides are veneered in walnut.
This beautiful piece of bedroom furniture would have graced any smart Georgian town house. It wasn't until the 17th century that dressing tables became popular furnishing pieces and once stretchers were removed from the design and the graceful cabriole leg introduced, then these items were top of the list for a fashionable 18th century bedroom.
The solid plate handles are not original but are period and date from about 1760. The piece itself dates from around 1720 so although the style shouts Queen Anne, it was constructed during the reign of George I.
Measurements : H 76cm x W 83cm x D48cm 30" x 32.5" x 19"
