Here we have a very country made late 17th century walnut and pine lowboy. The top veneered in patches of walnut and then crossbanded. The sides and strechers and legs and feet are in pine. The whole piece is unusual and the fact it's still here is remarkable. We believe this lowboy is east Anglian and it has all the hallmarks of Dutch influence. It's about 1680 which is when many Dutch style houses were built in Cambridgshire and Norfolk. They were also furnished in the Dutch style with what materials were available.
